Leaf Haul 07
Gang,
This saturday is the Utah Food Bank Annual Leaf Haul, raking of leaves for the elderly in the neighborhood. Why the Food Bank is hauling leaves, Im not sure.. soup perhaps or an organic cereal? So we are going to meet there at the Food Bank at 9:30 Saturday morning. They will be providing breakfast.. aka, begals and doughnuts. We will get our houses assigned to us there. Bring rakes if you have them. They will provide the bags. Afterwards we can all hit up IHOP or something like that. Oh.. and wear orange or yellow shirts so we can identify each other at the Food Bank.

Leaves and Kids
NOVEMBER 3 Saturday 8 - 10am
I will find out more information and post it. But heres the basics below;
"Each year, Services for Seniors, a program of the Utah Food Bank, solicits volunteers to rake leaves, trim bushes, pull weeds and do other light yard work for low income seniors and people with disabilities. Help is welcome any time on any day during the coming weeks.
But the big push happens at the annual "Leaf Haul," scheduled this year on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Last year, hundreds of volunteers raked 250 yards, completed 3,826 home repairs and delivered 9,408 free food boxes seniors.
Organizers say they are hoping for a bigger showing this year.
To sign up as a volunteer call Kerri Duncan at the food bank, 801-887-1266 or visit www.utahfoodbank.org."
ALSO
Jen Hawkins about BIG BROTHERS NEEDED.
Hey there boys, I hope you all are doing well this fine October. So I'm writing you all to inform you of a lil somethin, somethin I learned today and I thought that some of you may want to know more. Two months ago I joined Big Brothers/Big Sisters and have been waiting since to be paired up with a "little sister" however currently there is a shortage of gals and they asked me if I would be opposed to having a "little brother" (LUCKY KID) :o) Anyways, it turns out that Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Salt Lake has over 32 boys that they desperately want to link up to Big Brothers. If there are any of you who would be interested I say DO IT!! Seriously, all of you are amazing and wonderful people and a younger boy would be very lucky to have you in his life...not to mention that you would probably automatically become somebody's hero...how cool is that???
Anyway, to find out more info go to the website http://www.bbbsu.org/ to find out more.

OK, lets try to, in the next couple of days, brain storm for ideas.. and get a couple good ones down and scheduled.
Some Ideas:
1. Help serve food at the homeless shelter
2. Help out at Church welfare square
3. Talk to elderly neighbors and see if they need anything.
4.
5.
6.
.
.
.
Feel free to share all ideas.. Some ideas might require a few people.. some a lot of people. So we are thinking that some weeks might have a couple things going on. I will have them posted here. And again, feel free to share the blogspot to your friends and tell them to send an email to thegoodworks@gmail.com if they want to be on the email list.
thanks all,
Jim
